iTunes Review

After a three-year break from releases following 2002's Electric Circus, conscious rapper Common returned with a heightened profile - thanks in part to an anti-AIDS public-service TV ad - and the album Be. Scaled back from the sprawl of Circus, the album has the intimate feel that best serves its creator. At the same time, it hardly lacks for street wisdom and club credibility. "Go!" is at once a laid-back head-nodder and a lustful paean to sex, while "Chi-City" both challenges the prevailing hip-hop culture and boastfully nominates Common as its savior. Be ends with a pensive nod to Gil Scott-Heron, borrowing his album title "It's Your World" for a reminiscence of earlier days and a hopeful promise for the future.

One of the Greatest Hip-Hop CD's ever made....

BE, by COMMON, will go down in history as one the greatest CD's ever made.
With precise, intelligent , and thought provoking lyrics over a Kanye West production COMMON sealed his place as an MC among MC's, and a new legend in Hip-Hop. This is a must have.

Real Rap/Hip-Hop

When people rant on rap music calling it all stupid and bad, I must laugh at their face. Common is a true rapper, he drops lines from the heart, his songs have meaning and they are all brilliantly done. He means what he "says", you feel it in his rhymes. All I'll say is throw away you're T-Pain and get some real hip-hop. Peace.

Excellent and Soulful

This is my favorite Common album. Out of all his albums I think this one has his best beats provided by the genius Kanye. Every track is on point but my favorite is Love Is.. and Testify. Listen to story Common tells in Testify. Amazing and I had chills because i was always listening to the beat of that song. That beat can really overshadow the story.

Common (originally Common Sense) was a highly influential figure in rap's underground during the '90s, keeping the sophisticated lyrical technique and flowing syncopations of jazz-rap alive in an era when commercial gangsta rap was threatening to obliterate everything in its path. His literate, intelligent,...
