Are they serious?
Nearly every podcast is a massive diatribe on how all the problems of the world would be solved if Barrack Obama acted as they detailed. However although I've only listened to them for a while, I would bet seriously on the fact that not only did they not see this crisis coming, but that they endorsed the problems that got us into this mess. I don't believe they're perfect, and I seriously suspect that the confidence of their editors in their predictions of the future are highly unwarranted. That said the podcast is actually pretty interesting, so it's worth watching if only for their reporting on things that have happened in the past.
ITunes download problems
For many months I enjoyed listening in my car to and from work to the free Economist podcasts via the iTunes store on my iPhone. However, recently I regularly get error messages such as "file missing" or "server not configured correctly". Also, the podcasts seem to have been arranged into categories such as Money Talks or The Week Ahead rather than a list based on latest publication date. As a newspaper, I want to listen to the latest news and not searching through categories to find the most recent publication. The Economist app is no replacement as audio downloads require wifi and are slow. What a shame. I wouldn't want to miss my daily intake of high quality news and analysis... Hopefully these problems get resolved soon.
Consistently better
I have listened to these podcasts get better and better from their scratchy beginnings. Lots to think about and to disagree with. The Economist is good at telling the story up to now. I don't mind their dismal record if predicting the future!
