Album Review
On the third full-length by the Showdown, 2008's Back Breaker, the fun-lovin' lads from Tennessee add some mythology to their metal, as each of the album's 11 tracks goes by two titles — one that is straight out of Greek mythology, and another that is much more of the metal variety. Musically, the band still touches upon all the prerequisites of most up-and-coming metal bands roaming the earth circa the early 21st century — Iron Maiden-like guitar bits, Metallica's chug-chug riffery, Pantera-esque shouted vocals, etc. Back Breaker is one fierce beast from start to finish, especially on such brutal selections as "[Hephaestus] The Hammer of the Gods," "[Achilles] The Backbreaker," and "[Aries] I Am Vengeance." There may not be a lot to musically differentiate this quartet from the rest of the metal pack, but Back Breaker does certainly succeed in capturing the roaring power of the Showdown.

the showdown at there best
this is the best Showdown album to date it not only shows there talent but it blends both there old stuff and there new stuff from temtation together to give it that meatal to the face type feel if you are a fan of the showdown old or new this album is for you i blelive that the guys put everything they could do and made a realy great record. yes if you agree
Amazing
The Showdown returns again. They're brutal side is returning, which is a good thing. They toned it down a bit from A Chorus of Obliteration, but I don't mind that much. They're Pantera influence is obvious, but somebody has to carry on their style of music after Dimebag died. Gread album and I already can't wait for the next one.
METAL!!
I was a huge fan of "a chorus of obliteration," and "temptation come my way" was a really good album, it just felt like a totally different band. "BackBreaker" is the perfect blend of the two. waaay heavier than temptation come my way, and close to "a chorus of obliteration. Dont listen to the negative reviews - if you love metal, BUY THIS ALBUM!!
