Album Review
As uneven as the Vines' albums could be, they were always a first-rate singles band. Craig Nicholls and crew's knack for cranking out sunny pop and abrasive but melodic rock is undeniable, and The Best of the Vines delivers their singles and the tracks that sounded like singles. The collection begins with the big hits ("Get Free," "Ride," and "Highly Evolved"), then shows off some of the Vines' best tangents, like the irrepressibly bouncy "Factory" and the lush balladry of "Vision Valley," "Homesick," and "Autumn Shade." Though the collection favors the band's debut, Highly Evolved, gathering no less than seven of its 12 tracks, The Best of the Vines does a fine job of boiling down the band's body of work to its essential songs.

Way Too Early for a "Best Of" CD
by JMDDPI love the Vines; I have all three CDs, but why do bands think they have enough material to put out a Best Of CD so soon? After a productive but too short Vision Valley CD, they would have better spent their time putting together a brand new album.
Don't Listen To The Radio, Or the Punks Who Say The Vines Have One Hit
by Guitar Lovin ZebraThis is a band that grows on you a lot if you let it. Give them a chance and you won't regret it- they really are amazing and go far beyond "Ride". For the mellow listener or the heavy rocker- if you like music, get some Vines.
