Album Review

This Swedish retro metal act continues its pursuit of an early-'80s ideal on its second album, if possible becoming even more committed to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal sound than on 2008's Into the Night. As on the debut, there's a formula — lyrics about sex and partying ("Midnight Vice," "Live for the Night," "High Roller") and occasionally violence, combat, and other macho topics ("Katana," "Take Me to Hell," "Running in Menace"); high-pitched vocals; pulsing basslines in the vein of Iron Maiden's Steve Harris; and energetic drumming, stinging guitar solos, and singalong choruses. The title track is a galloping instrumental. Fans of old-school metal will find this a pleasing throwback thrill; modern-day metal kids too young to remember the bands and albums Enforcer are paying tribute to will find these songs weirdly catchy and utterly lacking in breakdowns, downtuned riffing, or moaned lyrics about adolescent existential despair. There's no emo or thick-necked hardcore/death metal bro-hood to be heard here; this is pure escapist pleasure.

um.. amazing much?

my first thought was HOLY COW! "nightmares" was played on my local radio station and i immediately fell in love. these guys dont fool around when it comes to amazing. the vocals are just super super super awesome haha

Yet More Amazing METAL

I was blown away by their first album and even more so by this one. Its like an epic blast from the past blast from the past. This is True Heavy Metal!!

almost there

the only thing bad about this band is that they are almost like a tribute band, they need to be more origional and once that happens i can see this small band ive been following for a while make iot far. other then that no complaints, everything is really polished and the diamonds instrumental is a real jem. im hopeing in their next album they go all out and create an awesome record, but for now this is just another above average tribute band.

Years Active: '00s, '10s

While the rest of the metal world was busy trying to reinvent the wheel, Sweden’s Enforcer decided to take a different approach. Rather than worrying about the future, the band embraced heavy metal’s past, and in 2004 the band formed to bring speed metal back to the world. The band, consisting of Olaf and Jonas Wikstand, Adam Zaars, Joseph Tholl, and Tobias Linkvist, channels the spirits of old-school speed metal bands like Venom and Anvil, paying homage to the brash aggression of those metal pioneers...
