October Project -- Today's Renaissance
First, to dispel the printed reviews posted elsewhere...this band has NOT disbanded, and in fact has its own website, fan mail database, & new recordings. Now, as for the music, what fabulous music it is indeed. On this release, check out "Forget You," for starters. I highly recommend the entire October Project catalog, notably the songs "Bury My Lovely" and "Falling Farther In," available on the group's first two albums. If you ever liked Renaissance, you'll love October Project. That puts this group in some very special territory! Mary Fahl was terrif, but I think the current lineup of October Project is in some ways a bit more special.
Wonderful Album - Different October Project
I love October Project and their music. However, truth be told, this ISN'T the October Project that was so popular before. The lyrics are just as powerful, but the sound is a new one. October Project WAS the voice of Mary Fahl in it's first incarnation and they just don't sound the same without her. While I enjoy this music and am happy to see them recording again (were they not November Project briefly?) without Mary's haunting voice... the songs don't have the same power.
Beautiful
After "Falling Farther In" I had not expected to hear from OP again, though I have followed Mary Fahl's recent work. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this latest masterpiece. Within five minutes I had bought it and it was so amazing that I almost started to cry. The members may have changed but their capacity to move has not. I would recommend every OP CD to anyone and I'm sure that this is no different.
