iTunes Review

While Oasis has always been ruled by the Gallagher Brothers, Liam and Noel, in recent years the band has transformed into a democracy with each band member contributing a song or two. 2008’s Dig Out Your Soul features six from Noel that range from the trademark Oasis bombast of “Waiting for the Rapture” to the bluesy kitsch of “Bag It Up” and “(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady,” while his “Soldier On” and guitarist Gem Archer’s “To Be Where There’s Life” do their best to shuttle off into psychedelia with a slight taste of Indian raga shading the Brit-Pop wallop. Liam’s Lennon-like ballad (what would an Oasis album be without some nod towards the Beatles?) “I’m Outta Time” is affecting and for pure classic Oasis, brother Noel’s “The Shock of the Lightning” and “Falling Down” come closest to their wall of sonic bliss. The entire album is produced to loud, numbing effect, the dynamics deliberately sacrificed. Oasis prefer to overwhelm the listener with wave after wave of unrelenting verve and style.

that this album is da Bomb for the Oasis fan - From first song (well, really SECOND song) this album just cranks with great Oasis'ic brovado - This reps an accumalation and maturation of Oasis as a band - IMHO (Agreed with another post: They don't get their due in the US - THIS is Oasis at their (recent) finest but not necessarily their "commercial" best (thank God) -sort of grown up, still complex yet endearing + almost expected/anticipated. IMHO this album follows up Dont Believe Truth perfectly - from The Turning, into Rapture and then later Shock Ltning, this albums da Bomb.

Love the new album

I just love all the songs of the album and i can hear it over and over again.

I love Oasis, but this album is poor.

Bag it up is certainly right. You might as well skip straight to Falling Down and leave the rest of this lukewarm travesty alone. This is Oasis' weakest album by far which is surprising coming off of Don't Believe the Truth. DBTT was enjoyable all the way through. DBTT only lacked great radio songs like Heathen Chemistry. I have to agree with another critic on here that said that Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was Oasis' last great album. I sadly have lost faith in what Oasis once was. Sometimes writers block can affect an artist for many years. Noel might need a change in personnel. For starters, bring back Alan White. That guy was an amazing drummer, Zack Starkey is barely adequate like his father.
