iTunes Review

The first album to feature contributions from all four principle members of Oasis, Don’t Believe the Truth marks the moment when the band stepped beyond the shadow of their past glories and emerged on their own terms as one of rock’n’roll’s most formidable units. A welcome addition to the band is Zak Starkey’s powerfully straightforward drumming. Bassist Andy Bell’s “Turn Up the Sun” is a vast peace-and-love anthem perfectly suited to the band’s personality, while guitarist Gem Archer’s “A Bell Will Ring” is a glowing piece of hypnotic, edgy psychedelia. While Don’t Believe the Truth finds each member developing his own style, this album indisputably belongs to the Gallagher brothers. Noel’s nuanced songwriting has never been better than on “Let There Be Love,” and “The Importance of Being Idle,” while “Mucky Fingers” is his forthright rock’n’roll at its finest. Even Liam’s songs —“The Meaning of Soul” and “Guess God Thinks I’m Abel”— display the mixture of sneering and sweet that epitomizes the younger Gallagher. It all comes together on “Lyla,” a brilliant stomp that embodies the renewed swagger of this venerable group.

The BEST Oasis record since 'Morning Glory!'

by J P F Wilson

This album really hasn't had a fair chance to be heard in this country in my opinion. That's nothing new unfortunately. For some reason the powers that be (MTV basically) simply ignore Oasis... so much so that I'm quite sure that the peple who were familiarized with Oasis through 'Wonderwall' probably have no that Oasis never stopped making records. This album is amazingly good! If you're reluctant to buy it, simply go to You Tube and watch them performing 'Turn Up The Sun' live. If you ever liked this band you'll be blown away be blown away by that song alone. The album is fantastic from start to finish. It's albums like this that really make me wonder why the press and the fans never stop moaning about 'Definitely Maybe.' 'Definitely Maybe' is a great album but the band has really gotten a hell of a lot better since. Don't pass this record up. You won't regret it.

One of there best.

Don't Believe the Truth is a great album form the best band on the planet. It is not there best so if your new to oasis don't buy this, buy Morning Glory or Be Here Now. Oh and please excuse my terrible spelling.

Turn Up the sun- Great opener by andy bell. I love the riff at the begining. Good backup singing by noel. Showed how they still had that in your face oasis attitude after a sub-par album in Heathen Chemistry. 8/10

Mucky fingers- Very catchey tune sung by noel. I really like the lyrics and the singing. And great harmonica only time i can recall them using one in there songs. 9/10

Lyla- My favorite oasis song. Brilliant. nuf ced. 10/10

Love like a bomb- Not to fond of it. Kinda repetitive. But hey its oasis so its still pretty good. Written by liam and Gem btw. 7.5/10

Importance of Being Idle- 2nd best song on the cd. Sung by noel. I really like the meaning. Great guitar. Up there with dont look back in anger for best noel tunes. 10/10

The meaning of soul- 1:42 of pure attitude. Any longer and it ruins the experience. Genius. Ill be trying to concentrate and this song will pop into my head and compleatly ruin my concentration. Written by liam. 3rd best on the album. My favorite liam written song. 10/10

Guess God Thinks I'm Able- Pretty good liam written song. Very good ending and decint lyrics. 8/10

Part of Queue- Final noel sung song on the album (if you dont count his apperince in let there be love). A good song but its down hill from here. 8/10

Keep the Dream Alive- 2nd Andy Bell song (I believe, might be gem). First off Its amazing the depth oasis have. Where all four official (Unless sharrock is official now?) members can write unbeliveably good songs. Name any other band that can do that. As for the song not there best but still very good 7/10

A Bell will ring- First all gem written song. I like hung in a bad place and to be where there's life better but still good. 7/10

Let There Be love- Whats an oasis album with out a big balled like this. Very repeatative but not in a bad way. I love when Noel takes over on lead vocals. A Great way to finish off the album.

Over all a very wild ride. But its oasis so expect that. Buy the album you wont be disapointed.

Blowin' my mind

Nice! I found this record in a store brand new for $4 and I've been listening to it for a few weeks now nonstop. I love the Noel-sung songs and I think that "Guess God..." and "Love Like a Bomb" are the best songs Liam has written. They really accentuate the mood set with "Lyla".
Andy and Gem have some solid additions here as well. Really, the album is the closest thing to perfect from Oasis since Be Here Now. The songs are just the right length, and the tracklisting makes the album flow. If you were to merely buy a couple songs from this album, I highly recommend "Lyla" (as it is most like other Oasis hits), "Importance", and "Love Like a Bomb".
"Let There be Love" is alright; Noel's part in the song is off the hook!
Anyway, it's the best Oasis album of the last four and attention must be paid to this great record.
4/5 stars, because I rarely ever give a five.
