Music Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings
With respect, the other reviewers (with 5 star ratings) let this one WAY off the hook. Yes, most of the samples sound enticing, with an authentic Tolkien feel to them... serious, grave, historic, epic. Drill only a sliver deeper (listen to a complete song), and it all falls a part. Do the 99 cent taste test. Purchase The Rivers of Theoden (#6). LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE SONG. This review will be vindicated.
That said, there is some good sounds, but to take out the synthesizer/circus/organ grinding/piano filler, the songs would have to be remixed by the owner. Not worth the dollars or time, in my opinion. Hope I can save some from my mistake. In short, the samples are not representative of the entire songs. Good luck.
More Like the Book
I love this music. It reminds me more of the book which is awesome. If you want music that seems like it comes from the world that tolkien wrote and not what the movie made, this is it.
Not Bad
Even though this probably had SOME relation to the movie (look at the date of release) or maybe perhaps this music was written before but not published, this music is wonderful. Not bad at all. The only little, tiny, "thing" I have with this music is 1) Some of this music was not done with a real orchestra; some sounds MIDI and 2) Bilbo's Song is rather disappointing to me, while of course, others would have to disagree. The only reason why is the fact that it sounds surprisingly soulful, jazzy, intriguiging. Too intriguing. Bluesy-ish. Even if they did do it apart from the movie, the book themselves seemed to have too much folk-lore to even speak of a saxophone. Besides that, I was happy with my individual purchases.
