emotionally legit. mayfield offers unpretentious songwriting and presents them with honest sincerity. also listening to new music from: eddie skuller, vic chestnut and joe henry.
Another Successful EP
Matthew Mayfield does it again with his latest EP, "Five Chances Remain Hers". The opening track, "Open Road", draws you in and sets the tone for the rest of the EP. His strength is his ability to tell a story with passion while leaving room for the listener to relate and make a connection to the song. The best track in my opinion is "Better". The beauty of its simplicity combined with Matthew's powerful lyrics and voice make this my stand out track.
Overall, while I thought it was going to be hard for him to top The Fire EP, Matthew may have done it. This is definitely worth the download. Five stars!

Matt is a true songsmith--The depth and briallance that come off his words I am sure are far missed by many who are stuck inthe same main stream crap. I can easily say that since I have started listening to Matt after a myspace sampling/searching session---He serpassed my Dave Matthews obcession easily. So Matt, my hats' off to ya.
