iTunes Review
Kentucky’s Black Stone Cherry are one of the most appealing young hard rock groups to come around in some time, combining their southern rock roots with the emotive passion of modern hard rock to create a powerful weave of intricate guitar riffing and indelible melodies. Chris Robertson sings with maximum authority and a hint of fragility lurking underneath his machismo blasts, as much Eddie Vedder as Skynyrd’s Ronnie Van Zant. That’s a real “please” he issues during “Please Come In” and there’s pure sentiment behind the haunting ballad “Things My Father Said.” Just as their 2006 self-titled debut exhibited the band’s elevated musicianship, this 2008 follow-up adds to their arsenal of musical chops. Drummer John Fred Young twists the standard hard rock beats with quick, intense flourishes (“Blind Man,” “Reverend Wrinkle”) that give the band an extra edge. “Peace is Free” evolves into a singalong anthem with all members contributing, while “Sunrise” jumpcuts into a reggae groove for its chorus.

Rocks my socks!
by STPszaboI think this album was a great succsess! They have definatly improved on their own original style, to create a more powerful sound. Every song on this album is catchy an gets you pumped for more. For the few negative comments, I will agree with one thing, yeah its not like the first album, its different, duh. Thats the way they wanted it to be. Why on earth would a band release the same album again! I find myself listening to this album more that the first! To me this sounds like a band that is maturing at a great pace. I cant wait for another album!
Fabulous Album!!!!
by SteelDogs MLI am a 40+ year old rocker and have grown tired of listening to music from my youth...Skynyrd, 38 Special, AC/DC, Queen, etc...I've listened to this music for over 25 years. Don't get me wrong I love that music but it's time for some fresh blood and Black Stone Cherry delivers a much needed quart of it! Folklore and Superstition gives me that much needed wake up that good music and southern rock won't fade into the oblivion. Out of 16 songs I rock to about 15 of them. But I am sure that 16th one will eventually grow on me. If not I still have 15 great songs. Soulcreek, Blind Man, Please Come In and Devil's Queen are in your face, make you wanna slap your momma rockin'. The boys from BSC are goona be big if they keep coming out with albums as good as this. Congrats Guys!
