Happy Madness
Quite simply, Michelle Mailhot is one of the best vocalists I've ever heard. A pro singer myself for 35+ years, I've heard a lot ;-) She's a great, unique artist who - Im taking an educated guess here - grew up with Ella, Joni, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin and many more of the cream of recording and performing artists.
Happy Madness shows a spectrum from scat jazz vocals and excellent 'standard' choices to fresh versions of some great pop tunes like Stevie Nicks' "Landslide", Prine's "Love 2 the 9s" and James Taylor's "Jump Up Behind Me".
The instrumentalists and arrangements are up to Michelle's level of sohistication and talent, as well. Re recording and sounds are absolutely worldclass, lots of air too.
I love this collection and can VERY enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who likes good music of ANY kind ;-) That's as a professional AND a fan (bigtime). Larry Hoppen
