iTunes Review
It's a music-biz truism that albums of pop standards can revive a stalled career like few other concepts. The Isley Brothers had already celebrated a Number One seller (Body Kiss) earlier in 2003 when frontman Ron took a detour into the songbook of veteran writer/arranger Burt Bacharach. Working side by side, the pair made Here I Am much more than another holiday-shopping cash-in. Isley turned in some of his most subtle vocal performances ever, coming within striking distance of various classic originals (by the likes of Dionne Warwick, among others). He surpassed at least one, turning "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" into a treatise on perseverance in the face of hurt. A couple of obscurities and one new song ("Love's

Here I Am
Ron Isley delivers an outstanding performance of Burt Bacharach's beautiful music. This is truly a delightful album.
THIS IS GOOD STUFF BY TWO MASTERS
OK WHEN I LOOKED AT THE PAIRING, I WAS A LITTLE CURIOUS AND DISMISSIVE. WHEN CKING MUSIC, CURIOUSITY IS A GOOD THING, BECAUSE MINE WAS REWARDED WITH SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG TIME. WHY THIS CD WAS NOT HEAVILY MARKETED IS ANOTHER TESTAMENT TO HOW THE MUSIC INDUSTRY UNDERESTIMATES THE TASTES OF THE MUSIC LISTENING PUBLIC. A GREAT TREASURE. BURT IS EVERYTHING HE ALWAYS HAS BEEN. RON IS ALLOWED TO TAKE A BREAK FROM HIS HIP HOP PERSONNA AND PUSH HIS RANGE THAT IS STILL THERE IN A VOCAL MASTER. IN THIS ERA OF MUSIC WHERE ANYTHING THAT SELLS A MILLION COPIES IS REDONE A ZILLION TIMES, THIS IS THE ONE THAT SHOULD BE REPEATED OVER AND OVER - MUSICAL GENIOUS' WITH R&B ARTISTS OF SUPERIOR SINGING QUALITY (SORRY BEYONCE-MAYBE AFTER YOU GROW UP). WHAT A CONCEPT. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PAIRING.............
Here I Am
This album is different sound for Ron Isley. It's a good difference. The combination of Ron Isley and Burt Bacharach is reflected in this album. I consider this album as a must have.
