Album Review

Being Canadian and eager to show off their bilingualism, Immaculate Machine released an EP of six of their songs from their 2005 album, Ones and Zeroes, entitled Les Uns Mais Pas les Autres. The instrumentals for each of the pieces are identical to those found on the full-length, as are the vocal arrangements; the only thing that's changed is the language itself, because Immaculate Machine have translated their lyrics into French, which are also included in the liner notes. It's more of a novelty than anything else, but it sounds pretty good, North American indie rock in a language besides English, and it represents the overall sound of the band well, with both their softer ("Sans Issue," or "No Way Out") and louder ("Ne Pars Pas Sans Nous," or "Don't Leave Without Us") sides covered. Certainly not a replacement for either of their records, but pretty fun nonetheless.

ellie james you are so right about the guy who wrote "sounds like mexican crap" couldn't agree more!

I love it, and i dont even speak French!

Okay...I'm not fluent in French, but I enjoy this album very much. I know all of the English versions of the songs, and I love them, but hearing them in another language is really fascinating. Listening to "Dear Confessor" in Mandarin is pretty cool too. Immaculate Machine certainly doesnt get the credit and admiration that they should receive at itunes, but they really are a great band, and every time I hear one of their songs I love them more and more.

Too bad it's in French?

What do you mean too bad? First of all, it's cool that it's in another language. It makes things more interesting. Secondly, Immiculate Machine has all the same songs in English, so if one prefers English it shouldn't even be an issue. That was a pretty lame comment...and don't even get me started with the ten year old twirp who seems to have nothing better to do than make biased and ignorant comments about music.

I like Immaculate Machine and I like taking French, so as far as I'm concerned, this album is great.
