Album Review
Senses Fail continue to explore the three-way intersection between post-hardcore, screamo, and punk-pop with their third LP. Musically and lyrically, Life Is Not a Waiting Room furthers the dichotomies that helped fuel the band's previous work: heaven and hell, muscle and melody, depression and emotional uplift. There's also a good deal of harmony here, from the dual guitar solos of Garrett Zablocki and Heath Saraceno to the band's use of vocal harmonies. While Senses Fail have always resisted the urge to tone down their hardcore tendencies in favor of a more commercial approach, Life Is Not a Waiting Room still features some surprisingly melodic moments, from "Yellow Angels" — a ballad that concludes with fist-pumping gang vocals — to the anthemic "Garden State." The band draws parallels to Further Seems Forever during such moments, where they flaunt their pop-inflected songwriting skills without losing the might that fuels the group's harder songs. Longtime listeners can rest assured that those harder songs haven't been left behind, as tracks like "Lungs Like Gallows" and "Wolves at the Door" find room for rusty-throated screams and double kickdrum thunder. Nonetheless, the band shows the bulk of its growth when melody is emphasized.

Song by Song Review
by doughertys7261. Fireworks at Dawn- 8.5/10 pretty good, kind of poppy, short.
2. Lungs Like Gallows- 9/10 a highlight of the album, much harder than most songs. a good amount of screaming, great instrumentals.
3. Garden State- 9.5/10 very good, one of the best of the album. sounds fairly like still searching, but still good.
4. Family Tradition- 8.2/10 great intro, song goes downhill from there, besides the chorus
5. Wolves at the Door-9/10 killer/fast/hard intro, very good screaming and vocals.
6. Hair of the Dog- 7.5/10 pretty good, poppy, one of the worst of the album
7. Four Years- 8.5/10 sounds like old senses, good. not much screaming.
8. Ali for Cody- 8.5/10 good intro, good guitar solo. not the best of the album though
9. Yellow Angels- 8.5/10 one of the softest of the album, still good, not much to say about it.
10.Chandelier- 8.7/10 strange song, some vocal effects, a good intro though
11. Map the Streets- 8.8/10 a bit better than chandelier, but doesn't compare to most other songs
12. Blackout- 10/10 standout track of the album. great guitar riffs/ all instruments mesh very well together. Meaningful lyrics.
DONT HAVE THE ALBUM ONLY SONGS SORRRY!
Overall- 8.9/10
Buy Garden State, Lungs Like Gallows, Blackout, wolves at the door, if you cannot buy the entire album
Awesome
by Tim from CaliI bought this CD the day it came out and have everything they have ever done. I don't understand why some of you are saying it's terrible. This album is great! Musically, this is the best CD they have put out. I agree that the older albums are a little heavier at times with a little more screaming, but they were about being pissed at others - like Buddys dad. Life Is Not A Waiting room is more about being angry with yourself and losing someone you care about. The band has grown lyrically and they have gotten nothing buy better! For any fan of Alesana, A Skylit Drive, Vanna, Devil Wears Prada, etc I cannot recommend this album and all of their stuff any higher. Definitely is my favorite band who have gotten me through some tough times in my own life. Highly recommend!!!
above average
by Golferdude831this is their second best cd. better than still searching (and depths), but not as good as let it enfold you. this cd tries to tell a story, though not as successfully as still searching. some of the songs just don't fit, such as map the streets. the songs though, for the most part, are very good. most notibly, garden state, family tradition, four years and yellow angels are very very good. if you don't buy everything, buy those four. idk about db cooper because i bought this cd at the store, and it says i've purchased coming up short, even though i have not. so idk about either of those. though from experience, senses fail's bonus tracks don't tend to be my favorites. also, check out the life is not a waiting room single. it returns to some of their older sound.
overall, good album. worth five stars. you should enjoy this!
