iTunes Review

This Tulsa, Oklahoma four-piece formed under the name Crew before relocating to Nashville and changing their name. SafetySuit play post-grunge radio-rock with tinges of Britpop wit in the song crafting. Frontman Douglas Brown's mature and contained vocals are able to convey heavy and heartfelt emotion without resorting to vocal gymnastics or melodramatic screaming. “Someone Like You” opens their debut with sparkling guitars and Brown inflecting impassioned lyrics that sound both demure and pretty. “Stay” is a readymade hit ballad with a sublime string section and hushed marching drums playing under Dave Garofolo’s guitarscapes that wind and blend crunchy distortion and washy shoegazer effects with taste and finesse. “Anywhere But Here” is another ballad that finds Brown using less subtlety in the poetry of his lyrics, but if the Goo Goo Dolls have taught us anything, it’s that these kinds of straightforward serenades have the power to accompany big-budget Hollywood film soundtracks, so who knows?

AMAZING.

I love SafetySuit. They are an amazing band. This album is great, there are ballads, and the up beat, somewhat pop sounding songs. If you were ever going to buy an album this should be it. All of the songs are great. TEN STARS!!!!

Great Debut Album!

SafetySuit has everything a great band needs. Their lyrics are simple, "you tell me once, you tell me twice, you tell me three times more" but they get the point across "looks don't make the world go round". The vocals are flawless, and so is everything about this band.

Someone Like You: 8.5/10. Catchy song....
Apology: 8/10. I like it, but I don't love it.
Find a Way: 9/10. This song starts slow, but really builds throughout the song. This song is touching, one of my favorites.
Stay: 9.4/10. The first song I heard by SafetySuit on vh1, and I instantly fell in love with it and the rest of the album. Catchy lyrics, great melody.
Something I Said: 10/10. This is my favorite song off the album. Love the lyrics, the melody. If you don't buy the whole album, at least buy this song.
Anywhere But Here: 8.8/10. Another touching song, that builds up through the song.
Down: 7/10. I don't like this song so much. The chorus is pretty catchy, but there's something about this song I don't like so much.
The Moment: 6/10. Least favorite, don't like the chorus.
Annie: 8.2/10.This song has a good point, "looks don't make the world go round". I really like the chorus.
What If: 10/10. Another MUST-BUY song! I love this song all the way through the chorus, the lyrics, the guitars, the vocals, perfection.
Gone Away: 10/10. Starts slow, but builds in to another touching song, and another great song. I love this song!
Life Left to Go: 7/10. A little long, and a little boring, but a solid ending.

To review: If you can't buy the whole album, which you should, buy:
Something I Said
Gone Away
What If

Other songs you should really buy:
Stay
Annie
Someone Like You
Find a Way
Anywhere But Here

Can't wait to see what comes next for this great band!

Biography

Formed: Tulsa, OK

Genre: Unknown

Years Active:

When most bands begin to build up enough of a buzz in their hometowns that a move to a more "music biz " oriented city may be in the offing, the choice is usually New York or Los Angeles. For Tulsa-born Safetysuit, however, the destination was Nashville, TN. Originally known as Crew, singer/guitarist...
