a wondeful record
dan is one of the nicest people i've met in a while. genuine and kind and his tunes reflect that. he is an amazing songwriter and musician, and I think this is his best record yet.
Fresh and solid record
The easiest way to describe dan blakeslee is a cross between Bright Eye's with a little bit of Rufus Wainwright thrown in. However that wouldn't be entirely accurate. The only way to understand is just to listen. The songs are very soothing, yet each one is original. Something that is hard to do in acoustic music. Blakeslee has a very nice and distictive voice that makes even the more mediocre songs on the album interesting. Highlite tracks are "Your Spanish Scarf", "He Cannot Take Me". and "Carrie".
A masterpiece.
The vast amount of musicality and creativity of this artist is made clear by this premier album. The blend of original acoustic sound and soulful lyrics prove that Dan Blakeslee can't go wrong.
