iTunes Review

Produced by Howard Benson (All-American Rejects, Seether, Daughtry), Lonely Road opens with "You Better Pray," an out-of-the-gates hit boasting the kind of lightning-speed, metal-tinged, fretboard shredding that Eddie Van Halen would dig. But it's Ronnie Winter's voice that takes center stage here, especially on the soaring and catchy "Pen & Paper" where his endearingly nasal-toned timbre cuts through the mix with a dire urgency. "Represent" opens with the staggered strumming of an acoustic guitar before gently exploding into a cinematic ballad replete with lilting strings and a romantic refrain well worthy of putting on a flirty mix for someone. The most interesting cut here is easily "Believe" as it pulls heavily from bygone doo-wop hits of the ‘50s with its waltzing harmonies and soulful backing vocals that flow under Winter's ascending vocal gymnastics. Speaking of soulful, the band employs a gigantic gospel choir to accompany them on the anthemic title track, resonating with a warm, Southern rock feel.

comparing this album to "Don't You Fake it" album is not even comparable. Their first album was more musical in the lyrics and overall more enjoyable. Im not sure what happened when they made this album but if your hoping to hear the same style as their first album its not here. Also there isnt one song on this album that is worth listening to.

Sorry RJA for the criticism but i hope it can be used as a positive in your next album! just stick to your first style!

Overall poor album,

This album doesn't even come close to the passion of Don't You Fake it, so if you are looking for a mainstream pop album go right ahead and buy the whole thing. However, if you are looking for good music, the only two songs worth getting are Represent and Pen and Paper.

So, like many other diehard RJA fans, I first listened to this album and hated it! Seemed like a totally different band. I stopped listening to it for a while, then decided I'd give it another chance. It was a little better the second time, the third, fourth, fifth, etc. Now, I'm pretty much obsessed with it. Every song has hints of old RJA in them. This CD had more uplifting lyics and more visual imagery than their previous CD (although their first CD hit me emotionally more than any other album I've had). I still think "You Better Pray" is the worst song on the CD, but give it another chance people. Don't try comparing it to DYFI. Listen to it as a separate entity and I think you'll find it much better than the first time around.

"Lonely Road" by far my favorite :)

Another great job RJA!

(not 5 stars because I do believe DYFI was better)
