iTunes Review
The Temptations epitomized the Motown male quintet. With their matching tailored suits and synchronized dance moves, they set the template that guided soul groups in the Sixties, Seventies, and beyond. The Temptations also boasted one of Motown’s most memorable vocalists in David Ruffin, whose coarse holler served as the perfect foil to the candy-coated pop of “My Girl,” “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” and “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep.” The Temptations were often used as a testing ground for new styles, as Berry Gordy adapted his blueprint to changing tastes and trends. Upon Ruffin’s exit in 1968, Gordy allowed visionary producer Norman Whitfield to reinvent the Temps as a psychedelic soul outfit. Even as ambitious productions like “Ball of Confusion” flirted with new textures, there was always a pure pop center within every song. As easily as they had moved towards psychedelia, the group re-invented themselves as a sweet soul group, and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and “Just My Imagination” set the tone for Seventies soul the way “My Girl” had set the tone for the Sixties. Like most in this series, #1s would be more accurately titled “Top Tens,” but the point here is not to prove the band’s hitmaking power as much as their ability to consistently deliver new music in an era of rapidly shifting tastes.

A True Convert
by Tamarabella20 years ago when my mom would blast this stuff on Mellow Mondays (oldies day on the radio) I couldn't wait to get out of the car but now I love it. The tradition goes on because I am now doing the same thing with my own kids but instead they like the Temps. I think VH1 may have had something to do with it, LOL!
Amazing
by smooth-smoothWhoever wrote the itunes review don't know that much about the Tempts because all of these songs hit number 1 on the charts, so there is no need to call this album "top ten hits". The Way You Do The Things You Do reached #1 on the cashbox R&B charts, You're My Everything reached # 1 on the Cashbox R&B charts, # 3 on the Billboard R&B charts and #6 on the Billboard Pop charts, I'm Gonna Make You Love Me reached # 1 on the Cashbox R&B charts, #2 on the Billboard R&B charts and # 2 on the Billboard Pop charts, Ball of Confusion reached #1 on the Cashbox R&B charts, #2 on the Billboard R&B charts and #3 on the Billboard Pop charts and Stay reached #1 on the adult contemporary charts and stayed there for 12 weeks straight. Every other song hit # 1 on the Billboard R&B charts, except for Papa Was A Rolling Stone which hit #5 on the Billboard R&B charts and #1 on the Billboard Pop charts. 19 out of 20 of these songs reached # 1 on the R&B charts and Papa Was A Rolling Stone reached # 1 on the Pop charts, so don't be fooled, this cd contains twenty # 1 hits. The Tempts got more number ones than any motown group ever.
All of these songs are great, which should come as no surprise. The Tempts show why they are considered the greatest R&B group ever. But I will say the strength of The Tempts is in their albums, their albums have great songs that are just as good as the hits and if they're not as good, they are pretty close to being as good as the hits.
Temptations...A group, undescribable
by *Shadizzle*The Temptations were a very influential group of the 1960's. They broke the color barrier in all types of situations, music being just one. The Temptations are a group that rocked and still rock the radios in people's homes and in their cars. Now that is what I call music!!!
