Breathtakingly beautiful music; haunting voice; Queen of Hebrew Music (RIP)
Ofra Haza is propably one of the best vocal artists of all times. Aside from her enchanting voice, the mix of songs she does runs the gamut from tragic and haunting, to the kind that could make Palestinians and Israelis want to hold hands & sing Kumbaya. I so highly recommend this to anyone!
The voice of a century
It is not implausible to suggest that Ofra Haza may be the greatest singer of the last 100 years. I can only think of one other that comes close--Lisa Gerrard. Ofra's voice was a rare and divine thing. I won't ever forget her...

Long one of Israel's most popular singers, Ofra Haza broke through to international recognition during the mid-1980s when her traditional music found favor on the U.K. club circuit, its success leading to a series of unlikely pop projects. Born in Tel Aviv on November 19, 1959, Haza was the daughter of Yemenite parents forced to flee from their native country's Muslim regime; at the age of 12 she joined the renowned Hatikva theatrical troupe, and with the group cut a number of award-winning records...
