Great introduction to Paula Abdul
For all you youngun's that have first come to know Paula Abdul through her "third career" hosting American Idol, this will make a great CD purchase to show you all about what that little "second career" was all about (her first career of course was as a music video and L.A. Lakers choreographer). She made some great records back in the day (late '80s/early '90s) especially Straight Up, Forever Your Girl, and Cold Hearted. And who could forget her groundbreaking videos at the time - like the excitement of seeing the "Rush Rush" video which starred Keanu Reeves for the first time, or the amazing choreography in the half human, half animated Opposites Attract video with MC Skat Kat. Yeah, to a degree its a guilty pleasure, and yeah some of the songs are pretty bad (how did "Blowing Kisses In The Wind" or "Vibeology" ever become hits?), but no one can deny her impact on pop culture, and that truly these were some of the best records of the time. From '88 to '91 Paula amassed 8 top 10 singles, six of which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Rush, Rush" became the longest-running #1 single in 7 years when it spent 5 weeks at #1 in the summer of 1991.

This cd has most of Paula's best songs. Have to buy it!
Long Before the Zaniness that is American Idol...
Miss Paula actually had a recording career and was quite successful, too! She had 6, count 'em, 6 Billboard Number 1 Hits on the Hot 100, no small feat for anyone, let alone Ms. Abdul! She started out choreographing for Miss Jackson, then began singing and doing her own videos! A special nod goes out to Paula for choreographing the Ueber-Super-Mega-Talented Deborah Gibson's "Shake Your Love" video!
Sure, Paula's voice was thin, at best, but those songs were especially catchy and made us all want to be in her videos! Favorites are "Cold Hearted," "Straight Up," "The Way That You Love Me," "Rush, Rush," the funky "Vibeology" and the all-time classic duet with MC Skat Cat, "Opposites Attract." Do you think Paula helped him get a record deal? Seriously, he had a record! No, really! Look for it on Ebay or Amazon! Yeah, honestly!
Anyway, for you kiddies who think she just showed up in 2002 to host AI, you need to go back for an 80's/early 90's history lesson! Buy this Greatest Hits and get those bodies moving!
