a great memento of the live performance

by OwlGirl

i admit it, i bought this immediately after seeing robyn hitchcock and the venus 3 play a fantastic live show. this album has a different feel from Ole' Tarantula, but it makes perfect sense in terms of their live sound - thanks to the 6 or 7 live tracks here. "Queen of Eyes" is very different from the version on the Soft Boys' classic Underwater Moonlight, and i actually prefer this version of "(A Man's Gotta Know His Limitations) Briggs" to the one on Tarantula. Not sure about "Luckiness" and "Copper Kettle," except when i'm in an especially folksy mood. this is a good live album for the fans, and a great little album for those fans who went to support RH and his venerable band on this particular tour. Ole'!
