iTunes Review
In the tradition of his heroes The Smiths and The Jam, Noel Gallagher always considered Oasis a singles band, and like those two bands, Oasis are famous for relegating some of their best material to B-sides. While The Masterplan contains none of the band’s best-known songs, it ranks with Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory as one of the band’s best listens. “Acquiesce,” “Listen Up,” and “Fade Away” provide a nostalgic rush on par with classics like “Rock’n’Roll Star” and “Supersonic,” while “The Masterplan,” “Stay Young,” and “Rockin’ Chair” are among the band’s most unabashedly sweet songs. Perhaps the greatest strength of The Masterplan is its easygoing feel. With the release of Be Here Now in 1997, Oasis entered a period where pressure for them to live up to their reputation as the biggest band in the world resulted in albums that were overlabored. The Masterplan shows the band at its most fun, enjoying a period when pop songs came easily to them and making rock’n’roll was as easy as plugging in a guitar.

Surprisingly Strong
by JBP4Although I feel this is not Oasis's best work when taken as a whole, there are still many great songs present. The fact that these songs are b-sides speaks volumes of the band's ability.
I still don't see how Acquiesce failed to make an album, and songs like Fade Away exhibit surprising energy. Their (almost excessive) fondness for the Beatles shows itself in I Am The Walrus, and I even enjoy the less-refined screechings of The Swamp Song. Also especially recommended are Headshrinker, Underneath the Sky and the grandose Masterplan.
If your just passing by, I'd still suggest the more accessible (What's the Story) Morning Glory? or Definitely Maybe, but if your a more serious Oasis fan I would definitely recommend buying it.
Some Great, Some Okay
by buy the albums!Oasis is the greatest band ever (except maybe the Beatles). This album could had have better songs on it though. D'yer Wanna Be a Spaceman? and Step Out are sorely missed. Songs 1-3 are good. 5 is good. 6-9 are okay. 10 is the greatest song in the history of music. 11- 13 are pretty good. 14 is really good. Still, a must have for all.
The Masterplan an essential Oasis album!
by Jb45ngA great album of B-sides (though most of them are just as good as the A-side tracks). Live version of I am the Walrus is great
