Album Review

Method Man's second solo recording is a harder album than his debut, much more focused on rap than the frequent R&B excursions that hit the pop charts on the original Tical. Though the emphasis on the hardcore makes for a better album, Method Man's own raps are often diluted by the staggering number of collaborations; as usual, almost all of the songs have guests, including Raekwon, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, Mobb Deep, Redman, Left Eye (from TLC), Streetlife, Cappadonna, Ed Lover and D'Angelo. Between the skits, intros, outros and cameos is an excellent album just waiting to be pruned down.

JOHNNY BLAZE!!!!!!

I thought this was Meth's best album. (I know, I know, the original Tical was sick, but this had so many more songs, & I liked almost all of them). Sure, there's a lot of skits, but this doesn't ruin the album, especially if you're buying it off of itunes. Buy the songs only!!!!!! Duh!!!!! There are still 19 songs without any skits (That's including "Shaolin What" & "Snuffed Out" as songs, since they are beats w/ rhymes). The original Tical only had 13 total. (They were all awesome though). The only songs I could have done without are: "Sweet Love" & "Break Ups 2 Make Ups" Try keeping an open mind, and listening to the other 17 songs that are fu***n' tight!!

Meth's Strongest Album

Many don't know that the first Tical was thrown together following an accident that ruined many of his original tracks, though he still made a great debut solo album. His sophomore effort dwarfed it in terms of scope, flow, originality, and lyrical acrobatics. Grid Iron Rap has got to be one of the tightest songs he's done to date. The only problem I have with the album is the number of skits that I always have to skip to get to the meat. This was Meth at his best, before movie, TV, and commercial distractions that followed.

Nostalgia!

Remeber rap? When it was oringinal. Damn I forgot about this. The shizzle!!!

Method Man was the first — and biggest — solo star to emerge from the groundbreaking Wu-Tang Clan. His mush-mouthed, sandpaper-rough bellow (at times recalling EPMD's Erick Sermon) and imaginative rhymes easily made him one of the most recognizable, unpredictable MCs in the group, yet his flow was more deliberate and laid-back than the Wu's resident loose cannon, Ol' Dirty Bastard. On his solo records, Method Man developed a persona that swung from offhand, understated menace to raucous...
