A Hot, Sultry Energy Charged CD with a Touch of Funk!!!
Carpenter is everything you want a Sax player to be!!! He is only getting better and better as time goes by!!! I love this CD, but I wish it had more songs on it!! I hope he comes out with more!!
Hot Sax & Cool Songwriting
I've been a fan of Jimmy Carpenter's since 1991--since his days playing with and writing for The Believers. Jimmy's saxophone artistry just keeps getting better: maturing, evolving in complexity, ever refining the touch of the instrument while holding tenaciously to the roots of rock, soul, jazz and the blues. Jimmy handles the sax like a world-class lover handles a gorgeous woman. He plays her so well she just wants to give more. In addition to a colorful and infinitely listenable collection of fine tunes on this album, Jimmy has included two songs he wrote in the '90s while still doin' it all with The Believers: "Screeching Halt" and "On the Skids." Believers fans will recognize the lyrics, but Jimmy has reworked these songs so well, coloring them with hues gained from an additional 15 years of musicianship spent all over this land, that they have become new creations and live a life all their own.
Those who know and love this gifted singer/songwriter sax player will devour this set. Those who haven't known Jimmy Carpenter will celebrate the day they discovered him for themselves!
