Listen to Linus of Hollywood

Have you ever heard of a band called Jellyfish? Well, if you answered yes then I'm sure you know who Roger Joseph Manning, Jr is... a founding member of the following bands (that you should listen to immediately if you haven't heard them) Jellyfish, Imperial Drag, TV Eyes, and Moog Cookbook. Anyway, I mentioned Roger for two reasons... #1 he lends his talents on Linus' new album "Triangle" and #2 Roger's website is what led me to Linus' music in the first place. I do like Linus of Hollywood's first two albums, but I think "Triangle" blows them both away. The beautifully crafted power pop that makes up this album is something that anyone who enjoys this genre of music should not miss out on. Every track on this album is simply amazing... if I absolutely had to pick five songs to tell you to listen to they would be: Farewell to the King, Starting Monday, Let's Just Stay In Bed All Day, When Are We Gonna Do It, and (It Might Be) Too Late For Us. Seriously though, once you buy this album and start listening to it you won't be able to stop. "Triangle" is sugary sweet power pop and is by far Linus of Hollywood's greatest album yet... What are you waiting for?!! BUY THIS ALBUM!!!

Great tunes, bad lyrics

Linus of Hollywood occupies a unique position among other practitioners of the pop songcraft. Musically gifted with a keen sense of melody and a knack for irresistable hooks, these abilities strain under the onerous load of his vapid lyrical approach. Intimately aware of his own weaknesses, he parades his shortcomings (and primal urges) around like a badge of honor, but midway throughout the record one wonders if this self confession and brutal honesty is simply inadequacy at striking out on a more refined attempt at lyricism. Linus of Hollywood has a good ear undoubtedly (hence the three stars), but listening to a 37 year old man sing about "tight pants" and "when are we going to do it?" is more than I could handle.

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Growing up in Florida in the 1980s, Kevin Dotson (b. March 4, 1973, in Omaha, NE) took an immediate interest in music. He began playing guitar at the age of five, eventually learning drums, piano, and bass as well, and immersing himself in every style of rock and popular music throughout his teenage years, at first gravitating towards then-popular new wave and heavy metal sounds, but eventually finding the Beatles, Beach Boys, and Zombies as his songwriting and playing skills began to improve. He...
