The most melodic duo jazz
Each musician here exemplifies what a jazz musician is supposed to do- spontaneously create and provoke. Lewis Winn is able to clearly get to the essence of his melodic ideas, while intertwining harmony that sit perfectly atop Jon Gagan's steadfast but inspiring bass. Each is in their element here, and they don't sound as if they would like any other instrumentation. The duo setting, which can be boring, never grows old as all of the compositions are new and written by Lewis and Jon. They have been gigging together for more than twenty years, and that knowingness is shown here, yet uncertainty and newness tag along as with any great musician. A must listen.
