Album Review
Fans who love "Underground" will be doubly pleased with this disc, which highlights two songs from the Ben Folds Five LP. The first track is the LP version of "Underground," while track three is a great live version recorded in 1995 at Ziggy's in North Carolina. The live cut really shows off how important having fun is to the band. They are impressively well-rehearsed, and succesfully attack the difficult harmonies just as they do in the studio version. "Jackson Cannery" was the first single ever released by Ben Folds Five and is particularly good in this live recording, also from Ziggy's, 1995. The segue into the song is slightly different from the LP version, as is some of the ad-libbing by the band. Again, the high level of fun and energy present in their live shows really shows through. They seem to revel in the pleasure of changing lyrics to fit the locale or to make note of current events, and the audience certainly appreciates it.

A song on the Australian Store is $1.79 each. I know it's alot, but it's better than nothing.
Great songs--some of them hard to find!
Again, I'm not sure why everyone's complaining about this EP/single being released on iTunes. If you already have the studio version of "Underground" from Ben Folds Five's self-titled debut CD, then don't buy it here!
But this is a great way to get two other rare songs: "Jackson Cannery (Live)," which isn't available anywhere else besides this single, and "Underground (Live)," which is slightly different from the version found on Naked Baby Photos--it has an extra 31-second piano intro that for some reason was cut out when it was released on Naked Baby Photos (keep in mind that this single was originally released BEFORE NBP, so it's the NBP version that was modified, so don't complain about Caroline Records changing the version slightly to get more money out of you!).
It would have been nice, however, if iTunes had included a different album review for this single instead of copying the review from Underground #1, which talks about songs that aren't even on this single. Oh well.
A note
While it is nice to have live versions of songs, it seems silly to have two versions of Underground. Unlike the other EP, this version of Jackson Cannery is not from Naked Baby Photos (yay!)
