iTunes Review

Megadeth essentially comes down to Dave Mustaine and whomever he currently deems worthy. (In this case, all three members are seasoned pros from former bands, White Lion to Eidolon.) The 2007 line-up, like those before them, master the unexpected curves, flash virtuosity whenever possible and know how to build tension through machine-like repetition. Megadeth long ago replaced sheer thrash firepower with stronger melodic riffs, and for Megadeth’s 11th studio album, Mustaine balances the elements. Well, except for his social conscience, which knows no refinement. Mustaine calls ‘em like he sees ‘em, and as the title implies, United Abominations is an album very unhappy with the new world order. “Gears of War,” “Washington is Next!” and the title track give plenty of indication where Mustaine’s views sit, but “Amerikhastan,” with its sampled news voices, makes his most visceral and outspoken case. Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia joins in for a duet of the re-recording of the “ballad” “A Tout le Monde (Set Me Free),” while tracks such as “You’re Dead” and “Burnt Ice” keep the megalomaniacal guitars running at full force.

It's Good

I bought the album on here about a week ago. I don't think it is their best album, but it's good. It has some good guitar riffs and solid songs. I'm not sure i like my politics and music so much intertwined, but Dave makes it work. If your new to Megadeth, I would start with some of the earlier offerings, like Rust In Peace or Peace Sells.
Older fans of the band will enjoy the album, but I think its more in line with the post R.I.P. era, than the bands earlier stuff.
Bottom line.. it's solid and worth having in your music library, but won't return you to the Megadeth of the eighties.

Sigh...

Just buy the tracks; Gears of War, Play for Blood, and/or A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free).
