Album Review

Something of a metal supergroup, featuring P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel and Grammatrain's Pete Stewart, the Accident Experiment specialize in technically complex yet melodically accessible hard rock that isn't beholden to any one specific metal subgenre. Stewart's clean, emotionally expressive (but not at all emo) vocals are the Accident Experiment's focal point, alongside Curiel's equally precise guitar riffs, and the pair's focus throughout United We Fear is on expression instead of aggression. Prime Soundgarden comes to mind quite often, especially on the excellent opener "Sick Love Letter" and the dynamic "Slow Down," but flashes of everyone from Pantera to Whitesnake (in the best possible sense) permeate these 14 meaty, substantial, and hard-rocking songs.

absolutely unbelievable

this is probably the most talented band i have ever heard. the instruments are mind-blowing (especially in "AEX-1") and what the band puts into their songs is incredible. i feel like a frigin movie critic right now, but i guess this is what it takes to say how great a modern rock band could be. just buy the whole cd (you might not like tracks 1 and 9, but the price would still be better if you didn't buy those two... and you might end up liking the songs anyway). the drummer has to be some kind of god because he is better than every drummer in the world, including the drummers from Atomship, Tool, Dark New Day, and Alter Bridge. the guitarist is now my favorite as well (he's the dude from POD). the vocalist is also wicked good. so this band is practically a "dream band" of mine.

I'd never heard anything about this band and iTunes had them listed under Dave Navarro.. after reading the review and lstening to the samples on the tracks I bought the album. It's good..

That unmistakable sound

I am a carry-over fan from P.O.D. as many here are, I'm sure. I have to say that I had *almost* forgotten about Marcos, but a week or so ago I listened through FEOS on my iPod in my car, and I was reminiscing about the good 'ol days. Then it popped into my head about Marcos' new project, so when I got home did some searching and found AeX. And damn, I didn't realize how much a difference Marcos makes. His unmistakable, thunderous PRS delivering riff upon riff brought me back, and forward. It took a few listen-throughs to enjoy the whole album, but it is still growing on me and I am loving it more everyday. One of the downfalls of iTunes... the cd jacket! I wish I had the lyrics!
