Best Metal Album of 2008

by Tryppnotic

The guys at Twelvestep were nice enough to mail me an autographed CD. After listening to it more than 10 times in my car, I have to say I am VERY impressed. If you like bands like BFMV, Atreyu, or Sevendust, give these guys a listen. They have their own sound and are great live. I can't wait til they come to the US!

Anger, rage, riffs and energy - Twelvestep has it all!

I just bought this album, since I added them on MySpace. I have to say that this is definitely going to be one of the best metal albums of the year! I have waited for this album for almost a year now, and I am not dissapointed! According to their MySpace page, they had some delays with the recording, but it was well worth it. Sweden has given us lots of really heavy and good metal bands, such as In Flames, Arch Enemy etc, and I think that these guys follow the standard!

The riffs are cool, the vocals loaded with anger and despair, and I think the vocalist mixes his screaming/growling with the clean singing in a cool way. The last track might be a bit odd, maybe an attempt at some kind of ballad. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad track, but it differs from the rest of the album. The drummer is really good with the double pedals and the whole production sounds really good. Of course it should, considering it's from world famous metal producer Rickard Bengtsson, who also did a bunch of albums for Arch Enemy, Spiritual Beggars and Opeth.

All in all, my personal opinion is that I have waited long for this album, and it was worth it! If you're into the new kind of metal, you won't be dissapointed!
