Great book
Although this was written a few years ago and some software shout outs have been discontinued, it is well written and easy to understand. It does a great job of boiling down a 16 week college Lighting design 101 to a couple of hours read. I like how the author applies and understands the special needs of a church. He also acknowledges the wide ranges of churches, ultra conservative, hymnals and pews, to more liberal, rock and roll, services. While much of this book could apply to most theatrical spaces he keeps it focused to houses of worship. I would definitely recommend this book to any church looking to build or renovate their space. This will make you realize there is more to your Lighting system than just hanging a few fixtures and running them from some free controller you find on the internet. You will take your Lighting system more seriously with more thought and planning with your future needs in mind. And if it feels beyond your scope, hire an experienced Lighting designer. You will be happier with the results
